Gainesville City Schools announces enrollment dates for 2023-2024

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Gainesville City Council System announced on Monday enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year will begin in January.

According to a press release from the school system, the system will continue to offer school choice enrollment with transportation provided for all students within the student's assigned cluster only. Visit this link to determine which cluster you live in.

City of Gainesville resident students will be given priority for classroom space. If space is available within the established cap amount for each grade level, non-resident tuition students will be considered.

Choice enrollment forms will come home with currently enrolled pre-kindergarten through seventh-grade students on Friday. Students who are enrolled in Pre-K and fifth grade must attach two updated proofs of residency to the school choice form. Those forms will need to be returned to the school by January 27.

Those newly enrolling for the first time in Gainesville City Schools in first through 11th grade should register online from January 17 through 27. Online registration must be completed and received by January 27 to participate in choice enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year. Any choice enrollment requests after January 27 will be based on enrollment and must be approved. To begin, click this link, click the Students and Parents drop-down and then select Student Registration and Enrollment and select the New Student Registration link.

Those wishing to continue enrollment in Gainesville City Schools as a non-resident student must complete the non-resident application at individual schools. The school will send home a non-resident tuition/contract of agreement to each currently enrolled non-resident on February 1. Forms must be returned by February 17.

Newly enrolling non-residents for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year should complete the non-resident tuition/contract of agreement in person at the Gainesville City School Board Office located at 508 Oak Street, Gainesville from February 1 to May 12. The non-resident tuition/contract of agreement must be approved prior to starting the online registration.

Parents should attach the following documents: school transcript for high school-aged students, a current report card for elementary or middle school-aged students, and attendance and behavior records. Acceptance or denial letters will be mailed beginning February 24, 2023.
