LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Buford moved within one win of clinching Region 8-7A in its first season in the state's highest classification after smacking Mountain View 10-0 on the road in six innings on Wednesday.
Junior Emma Grace Williams (6-0) held down the Lady Bears scattering three hits and fanning xi in a complete-game effort.
After being held scoreless over the first two innings, the No. 1-ranked Lady Wolves (20-0, 11-0 Region 8-7A) exploded for 10 runs over the final four innings, eventually roughing up Mountain View pitching for 13 hits.
Buford scored four in the third on five hits and a walk. The Lady Wolves added a run in the fourth and put the game out of reach in the sixth. Madison Pickens had a RBI double, Adriana Martinez followed with three-run home run, and Caroline Stanton added a solo home run, her third in the past two games two games and 9th of the season.
Madison Pickens finished the day 4-for-4, with a double, 2 RBIs, and scored 3 runs. Junior Mackenzie Pickens went 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored twice.
Buford can clinch the region title next Tuesday with a win over Mill Creek at The Buford Softball Complex.
