After a tumultuous start to Week 7 with Hurricane Ian forcing the movement of 17 of 20 games involving Northeast Georgia teams, things got back to normal on the gridiron on Thursday night.
Region 8-4A continued to be front-and-center as North Oconee and Madison County both took home wins. North Oconee snapped North Hall's two-game win streak with a 70-7 victory in Bogart and Madison County beat Chestatee, 39-8, in Danielsville. Meanwhile, East Forsyth beat East Hall 45-0 in Rabbittown while Cedar Shoals knocked off Cherokee Bluff, 21-19, in Flowery Branch.
In Region 7-3A, Dawson County improved to 2-0 in 7-3A with a 28-0 road win over White County. Gilmer also moved to 2-0 with a 45-3 win over West Hall at The Hot Gates. Meanwhile, Lumpkin County saw its best start since 1988 come to an end with a 28-14 loss to Wesleyan in Norcross.
Region 8-2A opened its region schedule with a huge game as East Jackson won its fourth straight game with a stunning 55-24 win Banks County in Homer. It was the second consecutive loss for the Leopards aftera 4-0 start to the season.
In Region 8-6A, Jackson County won its second straight game with a 38-13 win over Habersham Central, who fell to 0-2 in the region with the loss. It was the first-ever win for the Panthers over the Raiders in nine tries going to 1998.
In Region 8-5A, Jefferson stayed unbeaten with a 28-0 win over Winder-Barrow at Memorial Stadium while Flowery Branch dropped its fourth straight game in a 17-7 loss to Clarke Central at home.
Commerce used a huge fourth quarter rally to beat First Presbyterian 31-26 on the road.
