GAINESVILLE, Ga. - After taking an early lead at home, Lakeview Academy saw their lead disappear before scoring the final 13 points to defeat Strong Rock Christian Friday, 27-19.
The Lions scored in the first minute of the contest as Clay Smith broke free for a 39-yard touchdown just 49 seconds into the game. Lakeview doubled its lead on a 70-yard scoop-and-score early in the second quarter.
Strong Rock answered late in the period with a 55-yard passing touchdown and a fumble recovery where the PAT failed, cutting the lead to one at halftime. Strong Rock took their first and only lead of the night on a 15-yard run early in the third before Landon Hanes retook the lead for Lakeview on a 27-yard run with 2:26 left in the third period.
Logan Stanley hauled in a 19-yard pass from Clay Smith late in the fourth to seal the win.
The Lions open region play next week as they travel to Bethlehem Christian.
