Softball: Bluff, East Hall, Buford take region wins

FLOWERY BRANCH — Cherokee Bluff snapped a three-game losing streak with a dramatic 5-4, walk-off win over North Hall at home on Tuesday in a key Region 8-4A game.

The win also gave the Lady Bears (9-10, 7-5 Region 8-4A) a 1 1/2-game lead over Madison County for fourth place with just four regular season region games left.

The game was tied at 4 in the seventh when Angelina Baronci ended it with a solo homer.

North Hall (9-9, 4-6 Region 8-4A) looked poised to rally for the win scoring three runs in the sixth when Mac Taylor, Emma Lee Spillers, and Genesis Satterfield all drove in runs in a three-run sixth to tie the game.

Catalina Baronci got the win for the Bears giving up four runs on 11 hits and striking out five in  seven innings.

Olivia  Mullins took the loss for North Hall. Mullins surrendered one run on one hit over two innings in relief. Mullins also struck out four.

Cherokee Bluff took a quick lead in the first on a two-run home run from Lauren Rule.


EAST HALL 7,
SECKINGER 3

East Hall stayed within two games of Cherokee Bluff in the playoff race with a big win at home on Tuesday.

Callie Dale started things off with a two-run double in the first and the Lady Vikings (8-8, 5-7 Region 8-4A) added a run in the third on an Amari Burce single.

East Hall put the game out of reach with four runs in the fourth, including a home run from Dale.

Burce got the win, giving up three runs on five hits over seven innings. She fanned nine.


BUFORD  15,
CENTRAL GWINNETT  0 (3 inn)

The Lady Wolves scored nine runs in the first inning en route to a blowout win in three innings on the road in Region 8-7A action.

Senior Jenn Ramirez had the big blow in the big inning with a three-run triple.

Junior Emma Grace Williams (5-0) got the win striking five in her two innings. Freshman Addison Rackley fanned all three batters she faced in the third.

Senior Emma Manders had two hits and two RBI and scored twice for Buford (17-0, 8-0 Region 8-7A). Freshman Summer Castorri and junior Tavye Borders both had a hit and two RBI for the Lady Wolves.

Buford will be back in action on Thursday playing host to Collins Hill in another region contest.
