COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Despite multiple turnovers, it was a pick six from North Forsyth's Mason Lawson that gave the Raiders a 28-24 win over West Forsyth Friday night in Raider Valley.
The Raiders had already given up a pick six and a scoop-and-score to the Wolverines, both of which gave West Forsyth 10 point leads at the time, but North Forsyth kept battling back to earn the win.
Michael Okland got things started with a 25-yard touchdown reception with 9:51 to play in the first. After 17 straight points by West Forsyth that included the pick six, Collin Miller answered with a 6-yard run that trimmed the lead to 17-14.
The Wolverines retook a 10-point lead moments later, but again North Forsyth answered, this time with four seconds to play in the third on a 63-yard touchdown reception from Logan Curry. Lawson's pick six with 7:15 to play would hold up as the winning score.
The Raiders tallied 217 yards on the day through the air on a rainy night while the North defense held the Wolverines to -12 yards rushing.
North Forsyth will travel to Creekview next week.
