Absentee ballot applications are now open for Georgia voters

By Sydney Hencil Anchor/Reporter

Absentee ballot applications are now open for Georgia voters and will close on October 28.

This can be done through a local elections office or through the State of Georgia website

“Ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on Election Day, which is November 8, in order for them to be counted, regardless of their postmark. That is important,” Kay Wimpye said, a Registration Coordinator and Absentee by Mail Manager with the Hall County Elections Office.

Wimpye said that Georgia law states that voters are not required to provide a reason in order to request an absentee ballot.

“The only requirement is to be a registered voter,” Wimpye said.

A photo verification will be needed as part of the application as per Georgia law.  If a voter has no ID, they can provide other forms of identification such as a United States military card, United States passport, and more which are noted on the instructions of the application.

Voters can submit their applications via mail, email, online, fax or in-person at your county’s elections office.

“I would like to point people to our website.  A lot of questions voters have can be answered with information from our website,” Wimpye said.
