Community members invited to be #LockedUpforGood during seventh annual Humane Society fundraiser

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is encouraging community members to participate in their seventh annual Adoption Angel Lock-In fundraiser by being #LockedUpforGood.

This event allows participants to spend time "locked in" a kennel with an adoptable rescue until their "bail", or fundraising goal, is achieved, according to a press release from HSNEGA. The month-long event begins with virtual fundraising on Friday and continues until September 24.

On-site "penmates" can sign up for shifts to be locked in with a rescue on September 22, 23, and 24.

Samantha Threadgill, Chief Philanthropy Officer for HSNEGA, said the purpose of this fundraiser is to raise awareness for what rescues experience each day.

“It's always a humbling and eye-opening experience, sitting on the concrete floor with a rescue, hearing every single sound and loud bark, waiting to see who rounds the corner next and realizing these animals are hoping that person will choose them,” said Threadgill. “However, it is also an uplifting experience because we have the chance to help that rescue’s dream come true: to find love and their forever home.”

All proceeds from the event benefit the shelter's rescue and adoption program. The goal of this year's event is to raise $150,000, in addition to raising awareness for rescues.

Penmate spots are still available and donations can be made on HSNEGA’s website at HSNEGA.org/events/lock-in. For more information on the event, participation, and sponsorship opportunities, contact Kevin Wells at 770-532-6617 ext 237 or [email protected].
