Authorities release name of man found dead Tuesday at Gold Creek Foods

Hall County Coroner Deputy Kevin Wetzel confirmed the identity of the man who died Tuesday morning at Gold Creek Foods' Webb Girth plant in Gainesville.

Pedro Ruiz Orbe, 70, died in what an offical from the Hall County Coroner's Office said may have been a sudden medical or cardiac event. Orbe's body will be sent to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

A Gold Creek Foods employee was found dead Tuesday morning at the company's Webb Girth plant in Gainesville.

According to a press release from Gold Creek, an official from the Hall County Coroner's Office said the man may have died from a sudden medical or cardiac event. However, an autopsy will be needed to confirm the cause of death. 

The Hall County Sheriff's Office responded to the facility and was on the scene throughout the morning. The Sheriff's Office said an investigator arrived at the scene at about 5:45 a.m. 

"Gold Creek Foods is cooperating fully with this investigation," the release said.

The man's name is being withheld until next of kin has been notified, however, the Hall County Sheriff's Office said the man was 70 years old.

Gold Creek Foods, founded in 2000 in Gainesville, is one of the largest full-service chicken further processors in the United States.
