By AccessWDUN staff

A 61-year-old Lawrenceville man has been arrested and charged with murder in the deaths of his wife and son-in-law following a shooting Thursday night in Gwinnett County.

Bernie Mack allegedly shot and killed his wife, Bridget Mack, 61, and his stepdaughter's husband, Jeremy Santos, 36.

Police have charged him with malice murder and two counts each of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Bridget Mack's daughter, Briana, and Santos went to the Mack home to check on her after she failed to arrive at her daughter's house. They found Bridget Mack dead from a gunshot wound inside the house. As they were leaving the scene, they encountered Bernie Mack. Mack and Santos exchanged gunfire, when Santos was shot and killed.

Bernie Mack was still on the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.

Gwinnett County detectives believe an argument between Bridget Mack and Bernie Mack led to the shooting.
