Lake Lanier Association Executive Director Jennifer Flowers will resign from her position on April 29 to take the next big step in her career.

Speaking with AccessWDUN, Flowers said she will be transitioning to the Georgia Association of Water Professionals as manager of leadership development programming and member relations.

"In the new role, I'm going to be providing leadership and support for water professionals who are really the frontline workers around the state in terms of public health in the state's water resources," Flowers said. "I'm going to be working on policy and legislation, and leadership programming, and connection with water leaders throughout the state."

Flowers said the Georgia Association of Water Professionals has always come to mind when thinking about her next career move following her time at the Lake Lanier Association and the City of Gainesville's Department of Water Resources. Flowers was first selected to lead the Lake Lanier Association in 2019.

While she said she was excited to start her new job, she spoke highly of her time with the Lake Lanier Association.

"It has been such a wonderful experience the past three years," Flowers said. "Even throughout the pandemic, we were able to make such a positive impact on Lake Lanier. For me, what was such a joy was really working with all of our members and all of the community to just increase engagement activities, increase our impact and just get people involved."

When asked what she would miss most about the Lake Lanier Association, Flowers said it all comes down to the community.

Flowers had a few suggestions for the next executive director of the Lake Lanier Association.

"I think my biggest suggestion is making sure that they continue to listen to the community and listen to the needs of those that are on the lake, utilize the lake," Flowers said. "A lot of people have different priorities and different viewpoints."
