Hall County Schools names three new principals

The Hall County School system has named the new principals of East Hall Middle School, Chicopee Woods Elementary and Lanier Elementary School.

Jamie Hitzges will become the new principal of East Hall Middle School. Hitzges is currently the principal at Chicopee Woods Elementary and has served in that role since 2017.

According to a press release from Hall County Schools, Hitzges has over a decade of elementary school teaching experience in Georgia and Florida.

“East Hall Middle School will benefit immensely from Dr. Hitzges’ leadership,” Hall County Superintendent said Will Schofield in a press release. “He understands the importance of relationships—how they build a foundation for community, for school culture, and for the instruction necessary to challenge students at all levels. He’s a proven leader with a wide range of experience and we are excited for the East Hall Middle School students, staff, and community.”

He served as North Jackson Elementary’s principal in 2011 until he was promoted in 2012 to become Jackson County Schools’ assistant superintendent of finance and operations. Hitzges joined Hall County schools in 2017 when he was named the principal of Chicopee Woods Elementary.

Rebecca Fisher will replace Hitzges as the new Chicopee Woods Elementary principal. She has been Mt. Vernon’s assistant principal since 2013.

Her education career started in 2004, where she taught first grade at Fair Street International Baccalaureate School.

Fisher moved to Hall County Schools in 2006 and taught first and second grade at Mt. Vernon Elementary. She became Mt. Vernon’s instructional coach in 2010 and served in this role until she was appointed assistant principal.

“I am honored and excited about the opportunity to join the Chicopee Woods Elementary School family,” Fisher said in a press release. “I look forward to working and learning alongside the school’s talented staff and partnering with families and the community as we all work together to achieve Chicopee Woods Elementary School’s vision of ‘making the world a better place by being the best school for our students.’”

Alli Roberts will serve as Lanier Elementary School’s new principal. She will replace outgoing principal John Wiggins, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Roberts has been Lanier Elementary School’s assistant principal since 2019.

Roberts started her teaching career in 2004 with Hall County Schools. She taught first grade at Riverbend Elementary School. Roberts then transferred to World Language Academy in 2008, where she continued to teach first grade while serving as an instructional coach.

Roberts was also a field supervisor and lecturer at the University of North Georgia from 2010 to 2017. She taught courses in literacy, educational assessments and foundations. She returned to Hall County Schools in 2017 for an instructional coach role at Chicopee Woods Elementary School.

“Ms. Roberts is an incredible instructional leader,” Schofield said in a press release. “Her prior experience as a teacher and an instructional coach is an incredible leadership asset. Couple that with her heart for students, their families, and the team members who serve them, and we have a very strong principal at Lanier Elementary."
