Region races are beginning to take shape around the Northeast Georgia area after some critical series last week in virtually every region.
This week could see even more movement from area teams as several series could either knock some teams from contention or put them right in the middle of playoff and region title races.
The top four teams in Region 7-3A will square off this week.
No. 2-ranked and region-leader North Hall takes on fourth-place East Forsyth while sixth-ranked and second-place Cherokee Bluff takes on third-place Dawson County in a pair of three-game series.
White County opens a huge series with Gilmer in Cleveland on Monday as the two teams, who sit fifth and sixth in the standings, try to stay in the playoff race.
In Region 8-4A, Flowery Branch, fresh off being swept by No. 1 North Oconee and dropping to fourth place, will try to climb back into the region race taking on second-place Jefferson in a huge three-game series for both teams. Meanwhile, the Dragons face North Oconee next week and have a chance to make a run at first place.
Chestatee, coming off a sweep of East Hall, gets third-place Madison County in a big series as the War Eagles try to climb into the top four.
Region 6-7A is as brutal as advertised as every team has at least two losses and the top six teams all are within two games of each other. North Forsyth sits fifth and travels to Lambert on Monday looking to avoid the sweep while Gainesville, which is seventh but just 2 1/2 games out of fourth place, plays host to No. 6 Denmark on Monday and then entertains West Forsyth on Wednesday looking to get back in playoff contention.
