GAINESVILLE — Hunter Brooks continued North Hall’s dominance on the mound so far in the early going in Region 7-3A.

The senior tossed a complete-game, no-hitter in leading the Trojans to a 7-0 win over Lumpkin County at Cottrell Field on Wednesday.

It was the fifth straight shutout win for North Hall (10-4, 5-0 Region 7-3A) who also remained in a first place tie with Dawson County atop the region.

The Trojans led just 1-0 after the second inning on a bases loaded walk to Hudson Barrett. North Hall exploded for six runs in the third, capped by a three-run home run by Brooks.

It was all Brooks from there on the mound. His only blemishes came in the opening frame. He walked Harper Davenport to lead off the game and later hit a batter. But he picked off two runners to get out of the jam.

He retired the final 20 batters, including getting six strikeouts.

Jace Bowen had two hits for North Hall, who took advantage of four Lumpkin County errors to score five unearned runs. Ajay Jones also had one hit for the Trojans.

Davenport took the loss for the Indians (5-8, 0-5 Region 7-3A) lasting just two innings.

The two teams will complete their three-game series on Thursday in Dahlonega.
