Hall County Commissioner Cooper announces reelection bid

By Austin Eller News Director

Hall County District 1 Commissioner Kathy Cooper announced at Thursday's County Commission meeting her plans to run for reelection as part of the 2022 election cycle.

Cooper, a Republican from Chestnut Mountain, was first elected to the Hall County Commission in 2014. A press release about the announcement described Cooper as a farmer and businesswoman.

The release said Cooper has focused on public safety initiatives while in office through the funding of equipment and compensation adjustments for first responders.

"While some communities work to defund and disable the police, Hall County has stood with our first responders because we appreciate their daily sacrifices,” Cooper said in a prepared statement.

Cooper intends to work toward providing infrastructure improvements moving forward.

Aside from her time as a commissioner, Cooper was also appointed by former Governor Nathan Deal to serve on the Georgia Department of Family and Child Services Advisory Board. Governor Brian Kemp appointed her to serve on the State Board of Architects and Interior Designers. Cooper has also served as Hall County's representative on the Hospital Authority and the Library Board.
