Lakeview Academy students to have expanded access to Brenau theater space

Theater students at Lakeview Academy will receive expanded access to Brenau University's theater space under a continued partnership between the two schools.

Brenau University President Anne Skleder announced Wednesday afternoon that Lakeview students will have access to Brenau facilities from September through Lakeview's spring performance, effective immediately. The announcement came after the performance of a short selection of acts from Lakeview's upcoming production, Something Rotten, at Brenau's Charles D. Walters Theatre.

An initial partnership between the schools allowed Lakeview to use the theater for performances, and Brenau to use Lakeview's athletics track.

John Simpson, the incoming head of school for Lakeview, said the partnership means a lot to him on a personal level.

"We are a community, we both have partnership in our mission, and we love our students," Simpson said.

Anne Skleder, president of Brenau University, said she is looking forward to having Lakeview Academy students use the space for an extended period of time.

"That, I think, is completely fitting with where we are going as a university, both as collaborators and as an institution committed to the arts and humanities, and committed to creating inspiring spaces," Skleder said.

Lakeview students will perform Something Rotten at Brenau's Downtown Center on Feb. 28 and March 3-6. Tickets for the production are available here.
