Brenau establishes new institute for internationalization plans

By Austin Eller News Director

Brenau University has established the Miller Institute for Global Education to expand and guide the university's internationalization plans.

The institute was founded by an estate gift from Board Secretary Pete Miller and his wife, Cathy. Pete has been a Brenau Trustee since 1998.

A press release from Brenau said the institute will build upon the Miller family's support of international studies at Brenau that established the Pete and Cathy Miller Family Endowment in 2006. Rosi Ponce, executive director of international strategy and partnerships at the university, will oversee the Miller Institute.

The new institute will help Brenau students pursue international opportunities such as the Boren Awards, Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarships and the Fullbright U.S. Student Program. It will also expand opportunities for study abroad programs and international partnerships.

More than 400 students, faculty and staff have benefitted from funding connected to the Miller endowment since 2006.
