Baseball: Region 7-3A gets non-region sweep as WHall, Bluff, NHall all win

GAINESVILLE — West Hall remained unbeaten after taking a 7-3 win over Gainesville on Friday at Ivey-Watson Field.

The Spartans (3-0) scored twice in the first on a RBI groundout from Michael Gaddy and Justin Shaffer later scored on a wild pitch to grab a quick lead.

The Red Elephants rallied to tie the game at 2 with single runs in the third and fourth on RBI singles from Will Barrett and Baxter Wright.

But West Hall exploded for four runs in the top of the fifth getting an RBI single from Cooper Tapp, a run on an error, and a bases-loaded walk to Evan Connor.

Gainesville (1-1) got a run back in the bottom of the fifth and West Hall answered with a run in the sixth.

Ryan Svetz and Alex Holman each had an RBI in the game for the Spartans.

Barrett finished with two hits for Gainesville. Tanner Allen and Anthony Lugo also had hits for the Red Elephants.


CHEROKEE BLUFF 5,
HART COUNTY 3

The Bears rallied from 1-0 and 3-1 deficits to complete a season-sweep of Hart County on Friday in Hartwell.

Hart County led 1-0 after the first inning but Bluff tied it in the top of the fifth. The Bulldogs plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to grab a 3-1 advantage.

Chandler Shope started and went four innings for Bluff.

Bluff (3-0) scored two runs each in the sixth and seventh to take the lead and Lucas Tritt pitched the final three innings to preserve the win for the Bears.

Jacob Vokal and Caleb Piland each had two hits for Cherokee Bluff. Piland knocked in a pair of runs. Ty Corbin, Bryce England, Brett House, Caleb Miele, and Kade Thompson all had one hit for the Bears.


NORTH HALL 3, 
CHESTATEE 1

Tate Brooks belted a home run and Hunter Brooks pitched five innings allowing just three hits and striking out 11 as they led the Trojans to a win over their arch-rivals.

However, Chestatee scored first in the first inning on a Mattox Miller RBI single.

North Hall (2-1) answered in the bottom of the second on a Tate Brooks’ sacrifice fly. Tate Brooks also highlighted a two-run fourth with his solo home run.

Nolan Turner started for Chestatee and went 3 2/3-innings allowing five hits and three runs while striking out two. Zach Smith pitched the final 2 1/3-innings out of the bullpen for the War Eagles.

Baker Dyer, Jace Bowen, Jaret Bales, and Bradford Puryear each had one hit for North Hall.

Landon Lee pitched the final two innings for the Trojans, striking out two.

Turner and Nathan Bull had the other two hits for Chestatee.
