Governor Brian Kemp announced Tuesday that the food company King's Hawaiian will invest $85 million into expanding its Oakwood facility, creating over 160 new jobs for the community.
"Great job creators like King’s Hawaiian continue to expand their operations here in the Peach State because they know we're a safe bet for success," Governor Brian Kemp said. "Since coming to Georgia, King’s Hawaiian has worked with the Number 1 workforce training program in the country, Quick Start, to recruit skilled workers who can meet the demands of today's market. This is a perfect example of how schools like Lanier Tech in our Technical College System produce amazing job placement rates. We are looking forward to continuing to work with this beloved brand in the coming years to provide further opportunities for Hall County and the entire State of Georgia."
The new facility will be located across the street from the production plant at Oakwood South Industrial Park. It will house a 150,000 square-foot bakery with room for future expansions. The facility is expected to be open in the Fall of 2023.
Kings Hawaiian was founded in 1950, but has been in the Hall County community since 2010. The company currently employs over 700 Georgians.
