Funeral services set Wednesday for retired Homer fire chief

A man who has been referred to as “an institution” in Homer will be remembered in funeral services Wednesday.

Mack Edwin Garrison Jr., 68, of Homer died Sunday, Oct. 23.

The owner of Mack and Buck’s Towing, he was retired fire chief of Homer Fire Department, an honorary deputy sheriff, member of Phi Delta Lodge 148, and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Garrison also served on the Homer Zoning Board.

His wife Sandra serves on the Homer Town Council.

Besides his family and the beach, he was an avid collector of classic muscle cars.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant UMC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
