BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — A pass from Caiden Tanner to Ethan McBride late in the fourth quarter was the difference as Union County took down East Jackson, 21-17, Friday night.

After East Jackson scored on their opening drive of the fourth quarter, the Panthers got the offense rolling with Conner Schutneck in the run game to set up Tanner to find McBride for the go-ahead touchdown.

Tanner finished with 304 yards passing and three passing scores, while Jensen Goble had 168 yards receiving, catching two of Tanner's touchdowns.

The Panthers got things going on their third drive of the night, scoring on a pass from Tanner to Goble to open the night. The Eagles answered on a double pass on 4th-and-7 from the 40 yard line to tie the game at 7-7.

Late in the second, East Jackson hit a 30-yard field goal to take a 10-7 lead into the half before Union County again used the Tanner-to-Goble connection for a 30-yard touchdown pass late in the third to take a 14-10 lead.

After the Panthers retook the lead late in the fourth, Lane Lance forced a strip sack to ice the game for the Panthers.

East Jackson will head to Providence Christian next week, while Union County hits the road to Athens Academy.
