Fiancé of murdered South Carolina woman arrested in Buford

The fiancé of a South Carolina woman reported missing in March 2020 has been charged with her death following his arrest in North Gwinnett County this week.

Multiple news outlets report that with help from the U.S. Marshal's Task Force, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office and the Gwinnett County Police Department, authorities arrested Michael Lee Wilkerson during a traffic stop in Buford on Tuesday. Jail records show Wilkerson had been living at a residence on Fox Chase in Lawrenceville.

The victim in the case, Brittany Michelle Davis, 33, could have been killed as early as February 2020, according to reports out of South Carolina. Her remains were discovered in a wooded area of Northeast Georgia in April 2021

Wilkerson is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail with no bond pending extradition to Greenville, South Carolina to face charges Davis' death.
