The Department of Natural Resources and other agencies resumed the search Monday morning for a man who went under Lake Lanier Saturday night and did not resurface.
Mark McKinnon with the DNR said there are some challenges to their search Monday, including more boats on the water in the Shoal Creek area causing wakes, and standing trees at the bottom of the search area.
The standing trees create "shadows" on sonar, McKinnon said in an email, which means the sonar search technology can't see that area from a particular angle.
The man left an inflatable raft Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. to retrieve an oar, but went under and did not resurface.
