Kentucky man drowns on Lake Lanier

By AccessWDUN Staff

A man from Kentucky drowned Friday afternoon at West Bank Park on Lake Lanier.

Mark McKinnon with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said Jeffrey McElfresh, 55, of Louisville, Kentucky, was paddleboarding without a life jacket. He had a pool noodle with him and it began to float away. McElfresh tried to retrieve it but got tired as he was swimming and went under. He briefly resurfaced before going under again.

McElfresh's body was located a short time later and was recovered by Hall County Fire Services.
