Single-vehicle accident in Hall County leaves driver dead, passenger injured

One person is dead and another seriously injured after a single-vehicle accident in Hall County on Saturday night.

A truck, a Ford F-150, was traveling westbound on Old Cornelia Highway when it couldn’t make a curve and ran off the road. The truck struck a standing tree, spun around, and went down a 50-foot embankment, overturned and landed on the truck’s roof.

The Georgia State Patrol says the crash happened just before midnight on Saturday night. The wreckage, however, was not discovered until 12:29 p.m. Sunday, July 11, according to investigators.

The driver, Connor Wales, 27, of Forsyth, GA, was killed in the accident. The passenger, Krissy Hamby, 22, of Gainesville, was seriously injured. Hamby said she lost consciousness shortly after the crash and was unable to call for help. She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment. There is no word on her current condition.

Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash.
