State officials looking for information in Rabun County arson

A Rabun County fire earlier this week at a home under renovations has been ruled an arson.

The fire caused minor damage to the 80 year old, 1000 square foot home on Electric Avenue in Mountain City on Monday afternoon.

“The Rabun County Fire Department arrived to find the attic area of the house on fire,” said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King. “We are asking for the help of the community to bring the individual(s) responsible to justice and
encourage anyone with information to call our anonymous tip line.”

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by Georgia Arson Control for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the arson.

Anyone with information can contact the anonymous tip line at 1-800-282-5804. The hotline operates around the clock.
