At its regular meeting Tuesday, May 18, Mayor Danny Dunagan and Gainesville City Council paid tribute to the city's public works professionals during National Public Works Week.
Dunagan presented a proclamation to Gainesville Public Works Director Chris Rotalsky, noting the vital role department employees play in the operation and maintenance of city facilities and services ranging from transportation to public buildings to recycling and more.
The department employees 89 people full-time and six part-time.
The designation of May 16-22 as National Public Works Week marked the 61st annual observance of the event.
