UGA and UNG tuition to remain the same for 2021-22 school year

According to a press release from the University System of Georgia, the Georgia Board of Regents voted Tuesday to freeze tuition and fees for the 2021-22 school year at the system's 26 public colleges and universities.

Included in the 26 are the University of North Georgia, the University of Georgia and Georgia Gwinnett College.

The board made the decision in part due to “the ongoing financial hardships many students and parents are facing due to the coronavirus pandemic,” according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This is the second consecutive year the board voted to freeze tuition and fees, after making the vote last April when the pandemic had just begun.

At UGA, tuition for the upcoming fall semester will be $4,895 for fulltime, in-state students and $14,415 for out-of-state students. UNG’s fall 2021 semester tuition will be $2,238 for in-state students and $7,902 for out-of-state students.

Georgia Gwinnett College has a flat rate tuition for students taking 15 or more credit hours. For in-state students, the price will be $2,009 and for out-of-state students, it will be $7,500.

A list of the other schools affected can be found at the University System of Georgia’s website.
