By AccessWDUN staff
A Cleveland man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident in Atlanta early Saturday morning, and Atlanta Police Department investigators are searching for the driver in the crash.

A press release issued by Atlanta PD said Ethan McCallister, 28, was walking along Piedmont Avenue near Lindbergh Drive in the Buckhead area around 3 a.m. when he was hit by an SUV. Initial information indicates McCallister was in the roadway when he was hit. Police said the vehicle fled the scene, almost striking another pedestrian in the process.

McCallister was taken to a hospital where died from his injuries.

Police later obtained a dash-cam video from a witness at the scene that showed a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee speeding away from the scene of the deadly crash. Authorities said they were unable to see a license plate number on the vehicle.

The Accident Investigation Unit is asking anyone who has information on the identity of the suspect to contact 911 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta. Information on the case can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.StopCrimeATL.com. Callers do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward of up to $2,000 for the arrest and indictment of the suspect.

Funeral services for McCallister will be held Friday, April 9 at 2 p.m. at Barrett Funeral Home in his hometown of Cleveland. McCallister was a graduate of White County High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was living and working in the Atlanta area when he was killed.

A GoFundMe account set up to provide financial help to McCallister's family had raised more than $68,000 by Wednesday afternoon.
