Helen's Annual Trout Tournament postponed because of river safety concerns

By Dean Dyer, WRWH
Officials in the Alpine Village of Helen announced Friday that due to high water and unsafe conditions on the Chattahoochee River, the 2021 Annual Trout Tournament has been moved from this weekend to next weekend.

Overnight storms across the region prompted the decision to move the event to Saturday, April 3.

Helen Chamber officials said the Festhalle will be open Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for fishermen to pick up t-shirts and ask any questions about the tournament. The Chamber is offering refunds to anyone who is unable to accommodate the schedule change.
