DACULA — Buford claimed its second straight Region 8-6A crown Friday night with an impressive 42-7 win over Dacula on the road.
The Wolves (9-1, 6-0 Region 8-6A) held a potent Falcons ground game to just 39 yards and just 66 total yards for the game. The only blemish came late in the game when Dacula (6-4, 5-1 Region 8-6A) became the first team in the region in 2021 to score on the vaunted Wolves defense.
Buford had not allowed a point of any kind with four consecutive shutouts before Winder-Barrow got a safety against Buford last week.
While the defense was smothering the Dacula offense, including a blocked punt for a touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter, the Wolves' offense settled in to take advantage of several short drives.
Quarterback Ashton Daniels scored touchdowns in just about every way possible. He caught a 40-yard TD pass on the Wolves' next possession after the blocked punt; he threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Bond in the second quarter and scored on a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Buford’s final score of the game.
Daniels was 4-of-7 passing for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Buford will be back in action next week playing host to either Kell or Lassiter in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
