GHSA: Reclassification numbers are out; most HallCo. schools could be in same region

By Bo Wilson Sports Editor

When the reclassification dust settles at the Georgia High School Association, the area's region will have a totally different look.

Most of the speculation has turned out to be true over the last month or so. Gainesville has dropped from Class 7A to Class 6A. Buford has bumped up from Class 6A to Class 7A, and those fans of a mostly-all Hall County region will be happy when everything is officially official.

Cherokee Bluff, Chestatee, East Hall, Johnson, North Hall and West Hall will, most likely, will be in the same region as all will be in Class 4A.

With Bluff, North Hall and West Hall moving up to Class 4A, Region 7-3A will look different. Dawson County and Lumpkin County are the only two original members left. White County and Gilmer, which moved in two years ago also should stay as well. East Forsyth, whose numbers were once projected to be Class 4A,will stay in Class 3A.

In Class 5A, Flowery Branch and Jefferson will move up from Class 4A.

In Class 2A, Riverside Military is in Class A right now. During the last reclass, they petitioned to play up. If they do so again, they should stay in Region 8-2A with Rabun County, Union County and Banks County.
