Chicken processing company Gold Creek Foods announced Tuesday it has finalized a previously announced agreement to acquire "substantially all" assets of Foundation Food Group.
The announcement was made in a press release from Gold Creek, however, terms of the deal were not made available.
Gold Creek was founded in Gainesville in 2000 and specializes in items from raw processing to fully cooked products for national businesses.
The purchase comes after a Jan. 2021 liquid nitrogen leak at Foundation Food Group in Gainesville which resulted in the deaths of six workers at the poultry processing plant.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration gave Foundation Food Group 26 citations, with a proposed fine of $594,474 for the incident. At last report, Foundation Food Group aimed to appeal the fines.
