Football: Commerce chews up Franklin Co.

COMMERCE — Commerce held Franklin County to just 27 total yards in taking a 30-0 win at Tiger Stadium Friday night.

The Tigers (5-2, 2-0 Region 8-A Public) have won four straight and will jump back into region play next week playing host to Social Circle.

While the defense was stuffing the Lions offense, the Commerce offense piled up nearly 500 yards of total offense. 345 yards rushing and added another 134 yards through the air. 

Commerce finished with 345 yards rushing as freshman Jaiden Daniels had another big game with 138 yards and 3 touchdowns rushing. Malachi Shockey added 11 yards on the ground. Trey Garnto passed for 134 yards and Cohen Thomason had 96 yards receiving. Jackson Morris had 29 yards receiving.

Thomason and Daniels each scored one touchdown in the first quarter as commerce took a quick 13-0 lead. Daniels scored again in the second quarter and Ivey Tolbert booted a 21-yard field goal to give Commerce a 16-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Daniels scored two more times to push the lead to 30-0.
