DAHLONEGA — Julianne Sutton's illustrious career added another milestone surpassed Wednesday night when she eclipsed 1,500 career points scored as the No. 16 University of North Georgia women's basketball team cruised past Georgia College, 81-40, inside the UNG Convocation Center.
The Nighthawks opened the game on a 9-2 run and never looked back, leading the entire way after scoring the game's first basket just 45 seconds into the contest.
With 6:03 left in the third quarter, Sutton hit her first of two free throws to net point No. 1,500 for her career, solidifing her spot in the record books as one of the top three scorers in the NCAA era of UNG women's basketball history.
NOTES
- Sutton finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds, marking her 18th career double-double. Caroline Martin also scored 16 points, while Lacie McCoy added 15.
- The 40 points scored by GC ties the lowest opponent scoring output inside the UNG Convocation Center all-time. The Nighthawks surrendered just 20 points to USC Aiken back in the 2018-19 season.
- After shooting just 2-for-13 from behind the arc in the first half, UNG responded by going 8-for-13 in the second half from distance.
