State Representative Matt Dubnik of Gainesville has been named Chairman of the House Education Committee by the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments.

Rep. Dubnik represents District 29, which includes portions of Hall County, and has served as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives since 2016. The House Education Committee is responsible for all aspects of legislation regarding Pre-K and K-12 education in Georgia.

“Being appointed as the Chairman of the House Education Committee by the House Committee on Assignments is a tremendous honor that has been entrusted to me, and one I do not take lightly,” Rep. Dubnik said in a statement Friday. “I believe that if you can impact the life of a child, you can impact us all. Sound legislation to benefit our educational system can not only help our students achieve their dreams but also lay the groundwork for Georgia’s future success. I look forward to going to work for our teachers, students, administrators and families of the great state of Georgia.”

In addition to his new role, Rep. Dubnik will serve as Secretary of the Appropriations Committee, an Ex-Officio member of the Ways & Means Committee and a member of the Game, Fish & Parks, Higher Education, Interstate Cooperation, Juvenile Justice and Small Business Development committees.
