NORCROSS — Olivia Duncan earned her fourth win of the season in the circle, and Mackenzie Pickens drove in the go-ahead run to lead Buford to a 4-2 win over Wesleyan on the road Wednesday.
Buford (12-2, 7-0 Region 8-6A) was forced to rally from a 2-0 Wesleyan lead after a disastrous third inning resulted in both runs scoring on fielding errors. It wasn't until the sixth when Madison Pickens singled and Emma Castorri doubled scoring the tying runs. In the seventh, Mackenzie Pickens ripped a double that scored Tayve Borders, who singled to start the inning, and on the next at-bat, Abbi Perkins singled bringing Mackenzie Pickens home for the 4-2 lead.
Duncan, a sophomore, was on target most of the day, striking out a career-high 11 Wesleyan batters while allowing just three hits and one walk in seven innings of work.
Mackenzie finished the day 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, and Emmy Hall was 2-for-4 with a double. Meanwhile, Emma Castorri was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Perkins was 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, one run and a stolen base.
