Football: GHS to limit football ticket sales

By Bo Wilson Sports Editor

GAINESVILLE — Gainesville Athletic Director Adam Lindsey announced on Wednesday the school is moving forward with limited capacity this football season at City Park.

“At this time, we are limiting the seating capacity at City Park to help us ensure a safe event for our players, coaches and spectators,” he said.

Lindsey says roughly 1,000 single-game tickets will be sold via the GoFan app – no tickets will be sold at the gate.

The school will honor, in addition to the single-game tickets, Gainesville Athletic Club passes, GHSA passes and media passes.

“We are excited about getting to the point where we can play football this fall,” Lindsey said. “As we move forward, we will expect our spectators to wear masks and practice social distancing during all of our events. We are recommending that our community purchase their tickets now as we fully expect all of our games to sell out quickly. Go Big Red.”

Fans will be required to wear a mask or face covering to attend events and social distancing will be enforced. The marching band will be reduced in size and will be socially distanced. They'll also move the student section under the scoreboard. Students also will adhere to the schools' social distancing policy.

Gainesville is set to kick off its home schedule on Sept. 25 against Discovery. The Red Elephants will begin the 2020 campaign at Stockbridge on Sept. 4, followed by the annual rival game at Flowery Branch on Sept. 18.
