BUFORD — Buford coach Tony Wolfe continues to make his mark on high school softball.
The Lady Wolves shutout Region 8-6A foe Dacula, 5-0, to give the Buford coaching legend his 400th win at the Buford Softball Complex on Tuesday. The win pushes Wolfe's career record to 400-71-2 and has led the Lady Wolves to 10 region titles and a Georgia High School Association state record 10 state titles.
Wolfe also led the Buford baseball team for 21 seasons before retiring after the 2017 season. he racked up a 441-192 overall record with two state titles and eight region titles.
Wolfe started a freshman on Tuesday, and Emma Grace Williams pitched like a seasoned veteran in her first start. She allowed five hits and three walks while striking out seven in the complete-game shutout win.
Dacula ace senior Sydney Boulware held the Wolves hitless through three innings, but Buford broke through in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on two doubles. Buford was helped in the inning by a costly error on a sacrifice bunt, three walks and a hit batter by Boulware.
The Wolves added an insurance run in the sixth inning to complete the scoring.
The Falcons threatened in the top of the 7th with a lead-off single and a walk, but could not score.
Senior Emmy Hall led the Wolves at the plate with a 2-for-4, double, RBI, one run and a stolen base day. Freshman Mackenzie Pickens was 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and one run. Senior Abbi Perkins finished 1-for-2 with a double and a run, and junior Abby Cochran was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run.

EAST HALL 0
Jefferson capitalized on a seventh-inning error to beat East Hall, 3-2, at East Hall Park on Tuesday.
The Vikings led 2-1 in the seventh and needed just two outs to seal the win, but Jefferson's Paige Kelly hit what should have been a routine pop fly out, turned into a two-run error.
The mistake, six on the day for the Vikings, scored both Sorrells and Beatty to give the Dragons the advantage. East Hall couldn't muster any runs in the bottom of the inning.
Ravyn Saxon earned the win, allowing three hits and two runs over seven innings while striking out five.
Calli Hardison took the loss for East Hall Vikings Varsity Softball. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Callie Dale, Alexis Burce, and Hardison each collected one hit to lead the Vikings.
Jefferson's Mac Turner and Abby Beatty finished with one hit each.
