The Gainesville man arrested in a shooting death at a business in Gwinnett County Friday afternoon is a person of interest in another recent murder investigation.
Joshua Thomas Brandt, 18, of Gainesville, faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in Gwinnett County. Suwanee Police Lieutenant Robert Thompson confirmed in a statement Monday that Brandt was also a person of interest in the stabbing death of William Slade Petty, 18.
Petty was found stabbed to death at an apartment complex on McGinnis Ferry Road on the morning of July 27.
Brandt reportedly shot James Ross, 38, of Loganville to death at a business in the 600 block of Satellite Boulevard around 4 p.m. Friday. Gwinnett Police previously reported the shooter fled the scene, and was wearing a long, light colored garment and face covering.
Thompson said Suwanee Police is urging anyone with information regarding the Petty murder case, or how it may relate to Friday's shooting, to come forward.
