Banks County wreck claims life of Lula woman

A driver ejected during a single-vehicle wreck south of Baldwin Sunday night died at the scene.

That wreck was reported to Banks County dispatchers at 10:56 p.m.

“The investigation determined that Courtney Mae Flanagan, 21, of Lula, failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and lost control,” said Sgt. C.E. Parker of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville. “Her vehicle, a white 20004 Toyota Corolla, traveled off the west shoulder of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole.”

Flanagan, who was unrestrained, was thrown from the vehicle in the crash at 6292 Old Highway 441 North, Baldwin, about a half-mile north of Simmons Road.

The Banks County Coroner’s Office also is investigating.

Units remained on scene until about 2 a.m. Monday, said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols.

Funeral services for Flanagan will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at The Grove. Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.
