Local public health departments host back-to-school vaccine clinics this month

By AccessWDUN Staff

While the main public health focus continues to be COVID-19, public health officials in North Georgia are reminding parents that their children need required school vaccinations before they go back to class.

"Kids need pencils, paper and other supplies for school. Just as important, children entering kindergarten, middle school and high school are required to have certain vaccinations and not all children are up-to-date on their shots," said District 2 Public Health spokesman Dave Palmer in a press statement issued earlier this week.

"With the challenges and uncertainty that we face with COVID-19, it can be easy to forget about school and necessary vaccines," Palmer said.

With that in mind, District 2 Public Health has scheduled special clinics specifically for school immunizations. Parents need to make appointments, so that social distancing can be maintained at public health sites. Anyone who visits a clinic is required to wear a face-covering to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
