DNR identifies Saturday drowning victim in Lake Lanier

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has released the identity of the man who drowned in Lake Lanier over the weekend.

According to Mark McKinnon with the DNR, the victim is Jesus Jimenes, 45, from Killeen, Texas.

Previous reports from the DNR said Jimenes was pulled out of the water at Lanier Park near Buford on Saturday afternoon, and bystanders attempted CPR. However, by the time officials showed up, Jimenes had died.

Jimenes was one of three people who drowned on Georgia waterways during the July 4th weekend, and one of two deaths on Lake Lanier.
