By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A man was pulled from Lake Lanier after drowning Saturday afternoon.

Major Mike England of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said the incident happened at Lanier Park in Buford at around 12:30. The 45-year-old hispanic man was reportedly swimming in the beach area of the park when he drowned.

"There were bystanders close by," England said. "They were able to pull him out and started CPR, but unfortunately, the man did not make it."

The victim's name has not been released.

It is the second reported drowning in the lake during the Fourth of July weekend. A 59-year-old man's body was recovered after he reportedly jumped from his boat Friday evening.
