Occupants trapped, injured when tree falls on vehicle during storm

Two people were hurt when a tree fell on the vehicle they were in just before 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27.

“Banks County Fire/EMS along with Franklin County Fire/EMS responded to 306 Prospect Road, Toccoa, on a reported vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment,” said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols. “Upon arrival, units found a single vehicle that a tree had fallen on during inclement weather and two people were trapped inside.”

Bold Springs Fire Department from Franklin County completed extrication of the trapped individuals, and both patients were transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center by Franklin County EMS and Banks County EMS, listed in stable condition.

The incident lasted more than two and one-half hours.
