By AccessWDUN Staff

GAINESVILLE — Lakeview Academy pitcher Parker Allen saved the day for the Lions in a 7-5 win over Chestatee at home on Wednesday.

Chestatee had already cut the Lions' lead, 7-5, and had bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning when Allen was called to the pitcher's mound. Allen shut down the rally, striking out two and forcing a groundout to end the game.

Allen was also pretty good at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a 2 RBI double to cap the five-run first inning and give the Lions a 5-0 advantage. Will Edwards, 1-for-2 with a walk, also contributed in the first inning with a 2 RBI double.

Jordan Thomas, who drove in the Lions' first run of the game, finished with an RBI, and Sam Stewart posted an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Andrew Estes started on the hill for the Lions, going five innings while allowing only 1 run on 3 hits and 4 strikeouts.

The Lions (2-1) will play on Friday at Lumpkin County. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
