Boys basketball: Big 1st half propels Banks past Vikings

HOMER — Banks County used a big first half to open a quick lead and then held on for a 69-56 win over East Hall on Saturday at the Banks County gym.

The Leopards ran out to a 25-10 lead after the first quarter and then extended the lead to 41-17 by halftime.

Garrett Pressley poured in 20 points, including four 3-pointers, to pace Banks County. Pierce Martin posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and added 5 assists as well. Clay Gosnell and Bradley Lewis had 11 points for the Leopards.

East Hall cut into the lead in the third quarter and outscored the Vikings 18-9 in the fourth quarter to make it closer.
