The Oakwood City Council approved, with conditions, an application for a 216 unit townhome development on Oakwood Road.
The council voted unanimously to the plan that included 144 three bedroom townhouses and 72 four bedroom townhouses, as long as they all had two car garages and 25 foot driveways.
The project by Rochester and Associates at 3940 and 3950 Oakwood Road had technically already been zoned, according to city manager B.R. White.
"Our code requires any changes to a PRD (Planned Residential Development), which these two parcels had, requires it to come back for a concept modification approval by council," said White. "That's what their request was tonight. And in that request they actually lowered the number of units that had been previously approved in the mid-2000s."
Two projects filed under old business, the reconsideration of the applications of Detroit Lender, LLC and an application of Oakwood Land, LLC, both requested to be tabled until the December meeting. The council obliged.
The council also approved a final reading of the city's 2021 budget.
