JEFFERSON — It doesn't matter what day of the week No. 2 Jefferson plays on, the Dragons continue blazing the Region 8-4A trail.
Chestatee (0-8, 0-3 Region 8-4A) was the latest victim as the Dragons racked up 513 total yards of offense en route to a 67-12 blowout win on a rare Thursday night game at Memorial Stadium.
The Dragons (8-0, 4-0 Region 8-4A) rushed 11 different backs for 477 yards with Kolton Jones leading the way with 100 yards on just five carries.
Chestatee was most successful through the air as Luke Bornhorst completed 14 of 30 for 227 yards and a touchdown. The War Eagles ended the night with 272 total yards. Bornhorst also rushed for 27 yards on 23 carries.
The Dragons scored three touchdowns within four minutes in the first quarter to take a 20-0 lead. Malaki Starks, who finished with 67 rushing yards and 36 passing yards, tossed his lone touchdown to Jordan Perry, a 36-yard pass, to jumpstart the Dragons' first-quarter flurry. Kolton Jones's first of two scores came a minute later when he scampered 20 yards with 5:27 to go, and a couple of minutes later, Starks broke loose for an 18-yard touchdown run to push the score up, 20-0.
Chestatee, however, found some offense early in the second quarter when Bornhorst hit Hayden Gowin on a 58-yard pass for the War Eagles' first score. The two-point try failed. Bornhorst added his only rushing score later in the second, a 25-yard run.
Jefferson answered both scores and added another on in the second quarter -- Carter Stephenson 40-yard run, Starks one-yard run and a Jones 32-yard score.
The Dragons added 21 points in the third quarter and six in the fourth.
