Big first half dooms Lakeview; falls 31-15 to Mt. Pisgah

GAINESVILLE — Mt. Pisgah scored 21 unanswered second-quarter points to blow past Lakeview Academy, 31-15, Friday night at Lion Stadium. 

Mt. Pisgah (4-3, 1-0 Region 6A Private) outgained Lakeview 477-277.

The Patriots' Tyler Hunnicutt rushed 18 times for 84 yards, while Coleman Smith had 82 yards on 14 carries and two scores. Smith also was 14 of 25 passing for 264 yards and a score. 

Ben Puckett led the Lions' ground game with 101 yards on 13 carries and Jesse Whiting had 49 yards on 10 carries and a score. Whiting also passed for 114 yards and a touchdown, completing 14 of 31 passes with one interception. 

The Patriots were up 24-0 before Lakeview (3-4, 1-2 Region 6A Private) found paydirt -- a 12-yard pass from Whiting to Sam Perrott with :31 seconds left in the first half. Perrott had 12 catches for 87 yards. Whiting scored the Lions' final touchdown with 7:12 left in the game, a 12-yard run.
